In the last prototype, I asked the children to use a laser pointer to point to the part of the insect they wanted to know. Then I told them about the relevant knowledge and asked them whether the process aroused their interest in insects. This is a process that focuses on learning. I talked about it last week.

In my second experiment, i use the same toolkit but a want to try a new aspect. I tried to focus on the fun itself,
I invited 7 children aged 7–8 to participate in this prototype.

In prototype2, I designed a game. It is a game played by children entirely by themselves.

First, the children are divided into two groups. Then they need to find all the insect organs on the insect specimens and mark their positions with a laser pointer based on the knowledge of the card. (If the child fails to find the right one, they need to look for it again) The group that completes the task first wins. In the end, I conducted a survey to ask them whether they learned knowledge and aroused their interest in insects.

In the process, children cooperate and share knowledge.
According to the survey, children have increased their interest in insects during the process, and they are willing to continue to learn about insects in the follow-up.
In my experiment, two children had participated in the prototype one experiment. I asked them about that they prefer prototype 1.1.

In the survey, I also asked children’s favorite insects.
Insects that children fear: bees, cockroaches,
Children’s favorite insects: ants, butterflies, dragonflies

Regarding the tool itself, I conducted a co-design. In the first stage, I asked the children to tell the characteristics they want this tool to have.

“I want to understand what it looks like under the insect shell.”
“I want to hear insects introduce themselves”
“I hope to find insects with my friends.”
“I hope there is a game where I become an insect to experience the life of insects.”
“I hope to learn about insects quickly.”

Try to improve the toolkit based on children’s feedback.
Incorporate more outdoor sports elements into it. I decided that the next prototype might be related to children looking for insects.
Many children like photography and can try to incorporate it
